IAFD Sales/Project Engineer

Position Description:

Industrial Air Flow Dynamics Inc. is looking for a Sales Engineer to actively drive and manage the unique projects we create and install, actively pursue leads and customers desiring our products, and continue to develop the industry with the innovation we create everyday.

This is a unique growth position to work directly with senior management and engineering, sell in a craving environment to grow revenue and our loyal customer base, and generate the next level of expansion in our future.

We are searching for a mechanical engineer with a personality, a blend between structure and persuasion.  The engineering strengths need to dominate forefront and the delivery needs to be smooth and comfortably received.


Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for every project executed. Sales Engineers must be able to: Front end sales; generate leads, follow leads, and grow revenue

  • Technical writings; describe construction work scopes, tooling, and equipment used in the project
  • Directly create blueprints, manage the development of prints, and check prints created by the team
  • Handle excessive phone usage; coordination with the construction team, support to site installation, customer interaction, office correspondence
  • Travel the region; this position will require an excessive amount of travel. Customers are not close together; movement and contact are key
  • Communicate clearly; this position will be the spine to projects and interaction is the only way to produce success


  • Exceptional mechanical engineering skills are required.
  • Can operate, create, and navigate SolidWorks
  • Can generate a blueprint of a part on demand. (Including interview)
  • Comfort working within a fast paced, nonstop, and evolving environment. Power never stops.
  • Proven ability to prioritize well and manage multiple projects under aggressive timelines with high attention to detail
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in any mechanical engineering position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Copy of transcript required.
  • Experience with sales, selling or relationship building a plus
  • Familiarity with industrial, construction, or field (NON-office) is nice
  • Ability to travel excessively, 70% of the time
  • Sense of humor a must

IAFD is a supplier of a turn-key service, product and installation, to the power industry.  We have been incorporated since 2001 selling and installing our products.  Our manufacturing headquarters is in Connecticut with satellite offices in Florida, Texas and Kentucky.  Our product is a flexible material called an expansion joint that connects metal ductwork inside power generation facilities.  Our products are most applicable to fossil fuel burning plants, with a heavy presence in natural gas combined cycle plants.  Our sales market is coast to coast in the United States for the turn-key service, sales of product globally.
